At Natural Notion, I help people explore how awareness, emotion, and body language shape their relationships — with themselves, others, and their horses.
I’m Lioba Artus, a registered social worker, Eponaquest-trained horse-assisted coach, and counselling student based in Sheffield. My work combines psychology, mindfulness, and experiential learning with horses to help clients build emotional balance, clear communication, and authentic connection.
My journey with horses began in childhood, though it wasn’t until later in life — when I brought home my own unbacked Highland mare — that the real learning began. Working patiently from the ground up, I discovered how deeply our internal state influences our horses’ responses. This curiosity led me to study natural horsemanship, classical training, and eventually complete my Eponaquest Level 1 Instructor qualification, where I learned how awareness of the nervous system can transform both human and horse.
Alongside my equine path, I’ve spent over a decade supporting people in social care and education — most recently as a social worker for children with disabilities. Through that work, I saw how much emotional resilience, clarity, and self-regulation caring demands. I now bring those insights into my equine coaching practice, offering two main pathways:
- Equine Partnership & Regulation – for horse owners who want to deepen trust, confidence, and communication with their horses through awareness and emotional congruence.
- Carer Wellbeing & Connection – for parents and carers of children with disabilities, providing restorative sessions to explore presence, calm, and body awareness alongside horses.
Whether in the arena or in everyday life, I believe that when we regulate ourselves, connection becomes possible. Horses reflect our truth with gentle honesty — inviting us to slow down, listen inwardly, and reconnect with what matters most.
I currently work within a 10-mile radius of Sheffield and offer one-to-one or small-group sessions at clients’ venues or local facilities.
If you’re interested in exploring how horse-assisted learning can support wellbeing, confidence, and authentic connection — for yourself, your horse, or those you care for — I’d love to hear from you.
